Renovating The Right Way With Garbage Removal

When my husband and I started buying bank-owned properties a few years back, I realized that clean-up was going to be a big part of the job. We were purchasing properties that were filled with trash, and it was really overwhelming at first. Fortunately, after cleaning up the mess on my own for a few houses, we wised up and started using a professional garbage removal company. In addition to hauling the garbage away quickly, they also took care of things like disposal fees and dumpster rentals. This blog is all about the advantages of expert garbage removal and why it is worth the investment.

4 Repurposing Projects To Do With Materials When Renovating Your Deck

by Marina Montero

Eventually, all wood decking materials will age, weather and rot, and when this happens they will need to be replaced. When this happens, you will need to renovate your deck with new decking or even rebuilt it. This can leave you with a lot of leftover wood that needs to be disposed of. Some of it may not be in good condition, but there may be a lot of material that you can repurpose for DIY projects. Here are some DIY project ideas that you may want to consider doing with your old wood decking scraps:

1. Using The Old Decking Lumber For Landscaping Timbers

One project that can be done easily with old decking materials is to use it for landscaping timbers. If you want to add boarders around flowerbeds, you can turn the boards on edge and create a rustic looking boarder. They can also be used to make small raised gardens that are easy to tend to. This can be done by building a small raised box and filling it with soil. Because treated lumber often has chemicals, you may want to use some type of liner to create a barrier between plants and the old decking.

2. Clean The Lumber And Use It For Making Outdoor Furniture

There are other more attractive projects that you may want to do with your old decking, such as make outdoor furniture. To make the wood useable, you may want to clean it up before using it. You can do this with tools like planers, table saws and band saws. The wood that is clean can then be used to make outdoor furniture like tables, benches and chairs that will last for many more years.

3. Clean Up Wood To Use For Making A Privacy Fence Or Screen In The Garden

Another option you may want to consider to repurpose your old decking is using it to create a privacy screen. If you want the screen to have an aged look, you can use the old lumber and just apply a light coat of sealant to it. If you want to have a privacy screen that looks new, clean the wood up with a planer before starting the project.

4. Use The Good Materials To Build A Small Covering For Firewood Or Garden Tools

If you are removing a lot of decking, and other lumber, you may want to reuse it for something like building a shed for firewood or garden tools. The lumber from your old deck can easily be used to create a small lean-to covering for firewood or garden tools.

These are some DIY projects that you can do to make use of old decking waste. Remember, old decking materials can often have chemicals and dust in them, so wear a dust mask and safety gear. If you are ready to start renovations, contact a dump trailer service to help dispose of the materials that cannot be reused. Contact a business, such as Duffield Hauling INC, for more information.
